There is always room for improvement. Providing remarkable service also helps to make you and your company memorable. Don’t you always remember when a company has provided excellent service just as much as you comment when they don’t? People certainly remember those who have gone above and beyond in their service, and often brag to others when they’ve had this experience. This is where you want to strive to be. To provide remarkable service, there are several things you want to consider.
Do What’s Best for the Customer
To provide remarkable service, you need to always do what’s best for the customer, even when it may not be best for you or your company.
What does this mean? For example, it may be in your company’s best interest to sell an item or service that costs more because it will increase your revenue. But, a less expensive product may be in your customer’s best interest because it will still get the job done and save them money. By doing what’s best for the customer, you will sell the less expensive item even when it may not benefit your interests. If you do what’s best for the customer, you will gain trust, and it will benefit you in the long run. The customer may see that you chose to sell them the product that best serves them and not you.
Make It Right 100%
To provide remarkable service, you have to remember to make it right for the customer all of the time. For example, if your company sells a product to a customer and it is faulty, it is your duty to make it right because you’re the one who sold it. You are the last person your client remembers before taking possession of the product. Although your company may not have made the product, it is your responsibility to make it right. This is one of the ways you provide remarkable service.
By being honest and keeping your word to make it right all the time, you also build trust, which leads to remarkable service. Many companies and business owners these days are dishonest and don’t keep promises. If you are a business that does that, you will certainly be remembered for not providing remarkable service. Take the honest route, make it right 100% of the time, and you will be rewarded.
Be Fanatical About Response Time & Follow Up
No one likes to wait, especially if they have a problem they need help with now. If you are a fanatic about response time and get back to people quickly, you are working to provide remarkable service. If you are not a fanatic about getting back to people right away, their anxiety will build. This will lead them to believe your company does not have their best interests in mind and that they are not a priority. In their eyes, you are not providing remarkable service.
By communicating and letting people know that you’re working on their issue and have their back, you will not only ease their anxiety but also show how much you value their business. They feel seen, which is extremely important. Let people know they can count on you, even if you’re waiting on someone else for the answer or the quick fix. By keeping people in the loop about what is going on 24/7, you are providing them with the remarkable service they will remember.
Remember, always follow up with the customer. If they are following up with you, you are not providing remarkable service.
This principle can also be applied in your life outside of work. If a friend or family member contacts you with a problem, they want your help right away. They don’t want to wait and worry. By getting back to them quickly, you are showing that you value them and are happy to help. This also helps to build trust in relationships.
Follow Up Until Completion
If you want to provide remarkable service, you have to follow up until the job is done. See the task until it is complete. Don’t leave the customer hanging. You can’t expect other people to just do it because you asked. Set reminders so that the task is always top of mind until it is done.
